Inline Speed Skate Record and Competitions

There are many worldwide events where inline skaters can compete for inline speed skating world records. The most recent being the 2006 world speed championships in Anyang (Korea).

Inline skating is not a sport that is performed at the Olympics, and most people believe that it won't be an Olympic event in the future. Unfortunately, due to the fact that inline speed skating isn't a recognized sport in the Olympics, many US athletes switch between ice and inline speed skating according to the season, as the two sports are very similar.

Inline Speed Skate Record Holders

Fromr the Guinness Book of World Records, there are some major contenders who hold inline skates speed records.

Danish inline skater, Claus Hechmann set a new world record on August 29, 2002. He is considered to be the fastest man on earth and has one the inline skates speed record for skating for one hour on an unpaved road. He was clocked at covering 36.120 kilometers in one hour. He completed the skate in Slageles, Denmark.

Inline Skates Speed Record for over Fifty

The inline speed skate record for over fifty goes to John Silker. He won the spot as record holder on July 13, 2002 after skating 282 miles in twenty-four hours.

While competitions continue to be hosted, and with the controversial issue of including inline speed skating as an Olympics event, the sport of inline speed skating offers an opportunity as a growing sport for young and old alike who want to take their recreational inline skating to a more competitive level.
