Welcome to our Inline Skate Site

My name is Laura, and as the author and designer of "Inline Skate Scene", I was motivated to build a site dedicated to finding more information on the various types of inline skates and inline skating, especially as they related to recreation and fitness.

I pursue inline skating from a recreational perspective, and when I first started inlining, I had a difficult time knowing how to get started, what was important with inline skate selection, and good/bad skate techniques. I've since realized that the sport of inline skating is broad and includes inline hockey, inline speed skating, aggressive inlining, and all the techniques and gear that go with each.

I was intrigued, and started my research. From personal experience I visited many sports stores, read several books, and tried out several inline skates and skating techniques. I also checked online and to my dismay found that this was very time consuming, and in most cases non-productive due to all the different suggestions provided online. And most of the websites I visited were just trying to sell me something, not provide the information I needed to further my interest in the various types of recreational inline skating.

My Skating Family

I have 3 children who have inline skated recreationally for years, and they provide the inspiration, photo ops, and ideas for many of these pages. As well, two of my children also short track speed skate, so there will be a few pictures and articles on speed skating on the site as an interesting cross sport to inline skating, especially to inline speed skating.

When I told my daughter Richelle (11 yrs old) about the site, she recommended that I include a page on Heelys. She succumbed to the Heelie craze about a year ago, and is a proficient skater on the sneakers with wheels that are so popular with kids.

Goals for the Web Site

My goal for Inline Skate Scene is to provide my guests with a place to visit to find quality information, tips, and articles related to inline skates and inline skating in one convenient location. As I am not the expert, I will be working with a team of inline skating experts who will share their expertise too.

Together, as we learn more and find new and fun tips and ideas on inline skates, we will be sharing them with you on this site. Our main purpose is to help others spend less time searching the Internet and provide you, the visitor, with a place to find what you are looking for when you think "inline skates".

About This Site

I know you came here to learn about inline skates and skating, but I just wanted to add a link on how I came to create an informational web site on my recreational passion, that hopefully will provide you with answers to your questions about the sport.
